How to Increase Traffic on your Business Website.

“If you build it, he will come.”

Unfortunately, that famous and often misquoted line from the movie  ‘Field of Dreams’ does not ring true when talking about your website. You may have created something outstanding for your business, but people aren’t going to find it without a little bit of work on your part.

Within your business marketing, you need to attract attention to your website, as you won’t get many people visiting otherwise. You can do this in the following ways.

#1: Use QR codes

QR (Quick Response) codes act like bar codes that people can scan with their smartphones or tablets. You will have seen these before, as many businesses use them on printed materials, their websites, and even their social media pages. You could do the same for your business. The QR code could link to a specific page on your website, although you might want to give people a reason to scan in the first place. You might lead them to a discount page on your site, for example.

You can create a QR code easily, as there are lots of websites offering the service. We recommend Flowcode for their eye-catching designs and analytics options.

#2: Optimize your website for SEO

The concept of SEO (search engine optimization) is probably nothing new to you. Optimizing your website to ensure you rank highly on Google is something you should focus on if you want people to find your site. However, Google makes hundreds of yearly changes to its search algorithms, so you do need to stay on top of SEO trends to retain your ranking. Check out the previous link and consider the services of an expert in this area for the best results.

#3: Implement email marketing

Email marketing is a cost-effective way to market your business, and it’s an excellent way to direct people to your website. Of course, you don’t want to bombard people with emails, as you will be quickly relegated to their trash boxes. But if you can time your emails – perhaps 2-3 a month – you might gain people’s attention, especially if you give them a reason to visit your website. There is some advice on collecting email addresses here, so have a read, and then craft your messages carefully.

#4: Include your website address everywhere

Well, not everywhere. You shouldn’t graffiti every wall in your town with your site’s URL, of course. But you can include it with your social media posts, your business cards, your other printed materials, and on the business listing sites that can be found online. Add it to the billboards you might use for marketing purposes too, and make sure its heard on the radio and television ads you might implement within your marketing strategy. There are probably other ways to push your website, so consider the marketing platforms you use, and make a mention where appropriate.

The more you do to attract people to your website, the better, as you will obviously gain more sales this way. Consider our options, and then commit to further research online for other suggestions.
